Most cleaning solutions do not harm the grip (avoid aerosol-based solvents such as CLP). The rubber texture provides positive grip on the firearm and is more commonly used for concealed carry (less likely to irritate skin or snag on clothing) and users with softer hands. This item fits Glock Model 19, 23, 25, 32, and 38 (Gen3, 2,or 1).
